Are you one of the millions of women struggling to lose weight after pregnancy? It takes most us years to get back to our pre-pregnancy weight, and it’s only made worse if we fall pregnant again with the extra pounds still in place.

We all use similar excuses for our inability to lose the baby weight, and many of them are legitimate reasons. Here are a few you may have used:

  • They said breastfeeding would help you shed the excess weight – and a year later you’re still waiting.
  • You don’t have time to exercise any more – between the baby and going back to work, there’s no ‘me’ time left.
  • Now that you’re running after a toddler, you can’t imagine having to measure portions and count calories – there’s just no time!
  • The excess weight is concentrated round your middle – it’s easy to hide.

We’ve all used these excuses, and others, at some time, even if only inside our heads. However, as we get older, our bodies conspire against us – we are naturally built to gain a few pounds each year, especially if we don’t take action to prevent it. In addition, abdominal fat is difficult to get rid of, and unhealthy. Being overweight in general is a health risk, and the longer you let it slide, the harder it’s going to be to lose weight.

The more overweight you are, the harder it is to stay active – and your children deserve a mom that can run around the yard playing with them for a few more years. Keeping your self trim, active and healthy also sets a good example for your kids, and with childhood obesity levels what they are, you need to teach your kids to live a healthy life too.

For almost ten years, I clung to those excuses, and others. Each year I promised myself I would get into shape, and sometimes I made an effort. I started exercise regimes, diets, and combinations of the two, only to give up after a few weeks in despair. Two sizes bigger than I was pre-pregnancy, the last straw was last summer when I couldn’t close my pants round the inner tube I was carrying around my waist. Time to get serious.

After a lot of research and a lot of sifting through quite frankly some of the weirdest diets I’ve ever heard of, I found something that worked. I lost weight in all the right places, without too much hassle. Yes, it took discpline and focus, but it was worth it. Read my review of that diet, called Strip That Fat. I think it’ll help you get your old self – and size – back too.
